Profiled sheeting fence: a 30-metre calculation and when cutting to size is pointless

18.08.2026

Short answer. A 30-metre fence 2 m high takes 26 sheets of T10 — 60 m² of steel, about 11,400 UAH. And straight away, honestly: if the fence is exactly two metres on level ground, our cut-to-size makes you no saving — the standard length matches here. The saving appears at other heights and on a slope.

We do not sell posts, rails or fasteners. We calculate and roll the sheet — the rest is separate.

When cutting to size saves money and when it does not

Your caseStandard sheetCut to sizeDifference
Level ground, height 2.0 m2.0 m — matchesthe samenone
Level ground, height 1.8 m2.0 m, 10% waste1.8 m≈ 1,140 UAH
Level ground, height 2.2 m2.5 m, large waste2.2 mdepends on length
Slope, 1.5 m fall over 30 m2.5 m, 15% waste2.13 m per bay≈ 2,900 UAH

We will not argue that everyone needs cutting to size. On a typical two-metre fence on level ground it gives you nothing — take the standard length and do not pay for a conversation about savings.

The slope: where the extra height comes from

On sloping ground a fence is built in steps: each bay is horizontal but set lower than the one before. So that no triangle of daylight is left under the bay, the sheet has to be taller than the nominal two metres by the height of the step.

With a 1.5 m fall over 30 metres and bays of 2.5 m, the step works out at 12.5 cm, so the sheet needs to be 2.13 m. A standard 2.0 m no longer covers it, and 2.5 m puts 15% into waste — 15 m² of steel and nearly 2,900 UAH on a mid-sized fence.

The back of the sheet is what you see from the yard

This is what people learn after installation. The face of profiled sheeting is the coloured polymer coating; the back is a protective primer, usually grey. On a roof nobody sees it. On a fence you see it every day from inside the plot.

The decision is made before ordering, not after: colour facing out or facing in. Turning the sheet round later does not work — the fixing holes are already punched.

Order the whole fence in one batch

A fence is the longest continuous plane on a plot. Steel batches vary slightly in shade within tolerance, and on a roof or facade that is barely visible. Across thirty metres of unbroken line the difference between two batches shows from the street.

How to order

Step 1. Measure the length and height

The length along the fence line and the height you want. On sloping ground, give the fall from the highest point to the lowest.

Step 2. Decide the post spacing

Most often 2.5 m. It determines how many sheets go in a bay and how big the step is on a slope.

Step 3. Order the whole quantity at once

What we do not do

We do not build fences, set posts or travel for on-site measuring, and we do not sell posts, rails or screws. We calculate the sheet from your dimensions, roll it and deliver.

FAQ

Which profile for a fence? T10 up to 2 m, T20f above that or on an exposed site — the higher wave holds stiffer.

What thickness? 0.45 mm is the working minimum. 0.40 mm dents noticeably more easily; 0.50 mm makes sense on tall fences and gates.

Can a fence have no gap at the bottom? On a slope, only with steps and a taller sheet as described above. On level ground there is no gap anyway.

Do you roll sheets for gates and wickets? Yes, in the same profile and colour so the pattern matches along the whole line.

How long is the wait? Production 1-2 working days, delivery a further 1-5 days.
