Both materials are 0.40-0.70 mm steel with a zinc and a polymer coating, and they last roughly the same. The difference is in the shape of the profile, the installation, the amount of waste and the look. The short answer: for a house people more often choose metal tile, and for outbuildings, canopies and fences – profiled sheeting. Below is why, and when the opposite is the better deal.
The comparison in figures
| Criterion | Profiled sheeting | Classic metal tile |
|---|---|---|
| Price from the manufacturer | from UAH 190/m² (T10) | from UAH 226/m² |
| Minimum roof pitch | from 12 degrees (T20 roofing, with a capillary groove) | from 14 degrees |
| Sheet length | to the size of the slope, with no horizontal joints | a multiple of the 350 mm tile pitch |
| Waste on a complex roof | small | noticeable: the sheet is cut along the tile |
| Look | restrained, technical | an imitation of natural tile |
| Bulat warranty | from 20 to 50 years | from 20 to 50 years |
When to take profiled sheeting
- Simple mono-pitch and dual-pitch roofs – the sheet is rolled to the full length of the slope at once, so joints and waste are almost absent.
- Shallow pitches – roofing T20 with a capillary groove works where tile can no longer be laid.
- Garages, warehouses, hangars, canopies – the load-bearing T35 and T57 profiles span large distances.
- Fences and facades – the wall profiles T10 and T20; see the profiled sheeting section.
When to take metal tile
- A house or a cottage – the deep relief looks like classic tile.
- A roof of simple or medium complexity with a pitch from 14 degrees – the waste stays reasonable.
- In Classic (Monterrey) of our own production the step is 18 mm against the usual 14 mm – the sheet is stiffer, the relief deeper, and the joint less prone to leaking.
A common mistake
The idea that tile lasts longer than profiled sheeting is simply wrong. Service life is set not by the shape of the profile but by the steel and the coating: the thickness of the metal, the mass of zinc, the type of polymer layer. The same steel lasts the same in either shape. So compare not profiled sheeting against tile, but the steel thickness and the coating in the specific offers in front of you.
