Short answer. The dimensions of a metal tile canopy are set by the module, not by taste: the projection is a multiple of the 350 mm tile step, and the width follows the 1,100 mm working width. A 1,100 × 1,050 mm canopy is exactly one piece with no cutting at all, about UAH 261 of steel. Make it 1,500 mm wide and you need two sheets and throw away 700 mm.
Projection: multiples of 350 mm only
Metal tile has a period: a step at the bottom, the next one 350 mm up. Cutting inside a step means cutting the step off, and the canopy then looks like a piece broken off a roof. So the projection comes from a fixed series.

The rise matters because the canopy fixes to the wall: its top edge has to clear the door frame by that height plus a margin. At a 1.40 m projection and 20° you need half a metre of wall above the door.

Calculated for a 1.05 m projection at the Classic price from UAH 226/m². Same effect as on a wicket gate: ten centimetres of width double the steel. If the canopy is sized by eye, those ten centimetres come from nowhere.
Why canopies collapse
Not under their own snow. A door canopy almost always sits below the slope of the main roof, and snow slides onto it from above — all at once, as a slab, from height. That is an impact load, and it appears in no “typical” canopy calculation.
What to do about it: snow guards on the main slope above the entrance, not a stronger canopy. Building a canopy that survives a slab of snow dropped from ten metres costs more than stopping the slab higher up.
Where the water goes
A door canopy sheds water exactly where a person stands while opening the door. Two options: a gutter along the edge, or a projection larger than the standing zone. A 0.70 m projection does not achieve that — you stand right under the stream.
That is an argument for 1.05 m, and equally an argument against making the canopy narrow. Side wind carries water 20-30 cm without effort.
Metal tile or profiled sheeting
Metal tile goes on a canopy for one reason: to match the roof. In everything else profiled sheeting is easier — no period along the sheet, so the projection can be anything rather than a multiple of 350 mm. And T20f is stiffer across the span between brackets.
If the canopy is made from an offcut left over from the roof, only a piece with a complete bottom step will do, two steps or more. What else offcuts are good for.

FAQ
What is the minimum pitch for a canopy? The same as for a roof — from 14° on Classic. The step itself holds water, and on a shallow canopy it will stand there even with no transverse joint.
Can a canopy work on brackets alone, with no frame? It can, but the sheet must be supported at more than its edges: longitudinal battens or sections between the brackets, otherwise it sags in the middle under snow.
Is a gutter needed? Over a doorway, yes, if the projection is short. Otherwise water lands right in front of the door, and in winter that is ice.
Is the canopy cut from a larger sheet? We roll the sheet to a multiple length, so it already matches the projection. Cutting is only needed across the width, and that edge goes under the barge flashing.
