Short answer. A pedestrian gate can be built with no cutting at all — if you make the frame exactly as wide as the profile’s working width. That is 1,100 mm for T20f and 1,155 mm for T10. One sheet, the height rolled to order, not a single cut edge. And the two things that actually go wrong on a wicket gate are not wind: they are frame racking and the hinges.
The width decides everything
Sheet comes in a strip of fixed width. The moment the frame is wider than the profile’s working width, even by a centimetre, you need a second sheet — and the steel for one gate doubles in price. Worked at 2.0 m height and our prices:

Two conclusions. First: 1.15 m instead of 1.10 m doubles the cost of the steel — over five centimetres of width. Second: on a wicket gate the stiffer T20f is not more expensive than T10; the difference is three hryvnia, because its working width sits closer to the size you need. The right profile is effectively free here.
T20f belongs on a wicket for the same reason it belongs on a driveway gate leaf: the sheet works in bending with no continuous support behind it. The gate leaf case is covered separately.
What a wicket gate weighs
You need this number to get the hinges right. A 1.0 × 2.0 m frame from 40×20×2 mm tube plus one mid rail:

The sheet weighs almost as much as the entire frame. That is the part nobody counts — and then wonders why the gate has dropped after two seasons.
Why the hinges must be spread apart
The weight does not hang on the hinge axis but to one side of it — the centre of gravity of a 1.0 m wide gate sits about 0.5 m away from the axis. The hinges work as a couple: the top one pulls in, the bottom one pushes out. The horizontal force on each = weight × 0.5 m ÷ the distance between hinges.

Moving the hinges out towards the ends of the frame costs nothing and halves the load. Putting them close together in the middle, because it looks neater, is the cheapest way to get a sagging gate.
The sheet is a brace, not a cover
A rectangular frame with no diagonal folds into a parallelogram: that is exactly what sagging looks like, when the free corner drops and the latch stops meeting its keeper.
A thin sheet riveted around the full perimeter works in shear and holds the frame square about as well as a diagonal brace. But only if the fixings run along all four sides. Rivets along the top and bottom alone turn the sheet into a passenger: it adds 10 kg of weight and no stiffness.
In practice: 4.0 × 10 mm rivets in the colour of the sheet, into every trough along the horizontal sides and at the same spacing along the verticals.
Which way to run the sheet
Vertically — the ribs run top to bottom, water drains, and the cut edge ends up at the bottom where it sees water only briefly. Horizontal looks fashionable, but then the side lap lies horizontally and holds water inside it. On a fence run that is tolerable; on a gate it is the one place people look at from half a metre away every day.

The cheapest option is exactly the profile’s working width: 1,100 mm for T20f. Then there is nothing to cut.

Sheet height equals frame height. We roll to size, so there is nothing to trim on site.

FAQ
T10 or T20f for a wicket gate? T20f. The sheet works in bending with no continuous support, and in money the difference is three hryvnia for the whole gate.
Two hinges or three? Two will hold; three reduce wear and keep the frame straighter. What matters more than the count is the distance between them.
Can I build the gate from fence offcuts? Technically yes, but the vertical joint ends up in the middle of the gate — the one place on the property that gets looked at closely every day.
Does the cut edge at the bottom need painting? If the cut is clean and the edge is not sitting in soil, no. When touch-up does make sense is covered here.
